After you take a listen it will probably be in your Top Ten, too.

Clearly from the mainstream jazz tradition, Chicago trumpeter/composer Greg Duncan's debut adds a fresh look with a collection of originals and new standards, performed by some of the midwest's top young talent. From the Mingus-like swagger of "Jimi Hendrix," to the modern chamber approach of "No Return," "Unveiled" contains a cohesive mix of styles and emotions ranging from bluesy and jubilant, to introspective and spiritual. In addition to his weekly gigs at Chicago's Green Mill and Mercury Theater, Duncan has become an intregal part of the scene following his arrival following graduate work at the University of North Texas and tours with the Glenn Miller Orchestra.

Reviews of Unveiled

All Music Guide (Adam Greenberg)
Bandleader Greg Duncan spent some time touring with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and in ways it shows here on his debut recording. While he's working in a quintet for Unveiled, and on modern compositions, there's a definite classic big-band sound. The players here -- Duncan on trumpet, Dan Nicholson on sax, and Marcin Fahmy, Jon Deitemeyer, and Jeff ...

Chicago Jazz Magazine (Paul Abella)
It's not too often that you know you're in for a treat of a record within the first twenty seconds. However, that is the case here with Greg Duncan's first release, Unveiled, on OA2 Records. Over the course of seventy-plus minutes, this disc grooves, swings, bops and just plain rocks out. The songs are well written and well executed. Frankly, th ...

Cadence, Oct-Nov 2007 (Grego Applegate Edwards)
Trumpeter Greg Duncan works and resides in Chicago and received his Masters at North Texas State. With a prominent middle range and occasional climbs to the mid-upper registers, Duncan's playing most often reminds of early- to mid-period Miles, certainly in sound if not always in terms of phrases. On his first CD there are six originals. All refle ...
