Piano man Ben Markley leads a tasty post-bop team of Steve Kovalcheck/g, Wil Swindler/as, Rodney Whitaker/b and Kyle Swan/dr through a collection of classy originals. Most of the tunes have an optimistic feel, with his piano dancing on the tables of the Latin folk feeling "Rimshot" and sophisticatedly lyrical "It's Spoken Spokane". Swindler is filled with the bopping Bird, nifty on "Spencer's Mood" and swinging from Kansas City on "Don't Give It Up" as well as doing some deft lines with Kovalcheck on the lovely "The Picture Outside My Window". Markley charms your socks off on the lithe "Tuesday Mornin' Feel" and is nimble around Whitaker's work for the groover "Snowy Range Blues". A bright world ahead.
