A very cool-sounding group doing more than its share to keep mainstream sounds alive and vibrant.
Known for his smooth sound and Warne Marsh/Lee Konitz influenced lines, the tenor saxophonist and longtime member of the LA-based Acoustic Jazz Quartet presents ten originals reflecting on his recent tenure in New York City. Utilizing the swinging organ trio of Larry Koonse, Joe Bagg and Tim Pleasant, Sills puts together a most satisfying mainstream session.

All Music Guide (Adam Greenburg)
On his first album as a proper lead for Origin, saxophonist David Sills is taking the opportunity to reflect upon his time in "The City" after a stay in New York (though his own usual locale is also a major city, LA has a different vibe to say the least). The all-original compositions here take a special effort to touch upon the New York aesthetic ...
