This two-disc set has George Schuller and Andrew Rathbun producing a rich collection of the leader's material, which is modern, rich and accessible. A mix of music and poetry by Margaret Atwood make for a delightful and ambitious listen.

There is a 3-Part "Two Islands," Souza's lovely voice over the pulsating reeds, while Tim Hagans sighs on "Two Islands II." Some rich post bop harmonies and rhythms are driven by Bill Stewart on "Two Islands III" and Souza teams with Dan Pratt's rich tenor for a dramatic "Power Politics I." That includes rich harmonies as well as a funky beat for Tim Hagans' warm flugelhorn. Luciana Souza provides enticing voice as the team gallops during "Two Islands III" and the team is rich and pastoral during "Power Politics II."

Aubrey Johnson's voice is featured on the 4-part "Fractured" with misty glissando saxes and a funky groove, and Matt Holman's fluffy trumpet during "V" is an impressionistic delight. Some lovely pastoral harmonies mix with a hip groove on "II " making this a collection for the head and heart.
