This is a very enjoyable, listenable album if you're a fan of Dave Brubeck and the Paul Desmond sound. Jensen captures that spirit really well, and goes through an assortment of Desmond's later recordings, as well as some Brubeck material. Is this a tribute? Is it a homage? I don't know, but it's just great. And you should have a double martini for this one because it's just a sweet-sounding recording. We don't hear sax played like this so much anymore. Desmond was a unique figure, and no one in recent times really tries to copy that sound. Jensen gets the essence of Desmond without copying him too much.
