As advertised, grooves galore, and lots of variety: funk, reggae, shuffle...slow, fast, all fun stuff. Patterson's original tunes are catchy, the dual trombone and guitar lead idea is unique and works well. Sometimes, Hernandez swaps in on tenor or adds another voice along with fiery solos. Tight rhythm section, with great electric and acoustic work from Henry, tight drumming from Harrison, and great organ playing and tones from Appelman, too. Purcell likes his grungy guitar tones, but they work well with the clean trombone sound and his guitar solos are always burning up. Patterson shows that he's a powerful player with big chops, flexibility, and enough creative
ideas to drive though long solos always following the groove and keeping his phrases locking in with tight rhythmic precision.
