Ringer of the Week Here's the type of album that I'm just a sucker for.
First, singer Anna Kolchina has a rich, alluring and sensuous voice. And, whoever suggested that she use it in a series of guitar duets deserves a free lunch. And THEN, to recommend alternating guitarists brings on a paid for desert and coffee as well. So tasty!
She mixes and matches with the likes of Ilya Lushtak, Yotam Silbestein, Peter Bernstein, Paul Bollenback, Romero Lubambo and even the late Russell Malone (was this his last gig?). Kolchina looks gorgeous in nylons with Silbestein a starry "You and the Night And The Music" and is angelic around the harp-like Lubambo on "What Now My Love?". Her delivery is intimate with a late night Bernstein on "All Or Nothing At All" and dresses darkly with him on "Invitation. Malone and Kolchina are tensile on " Vacation From The Blues" and Silberstein gets cozy for "Reach For Tomorrow". Less is more, and we want more!
