I'm also extremely impressed by a new Paul Desmond tribute album from alto sax man Brent Jensen---"THE SOUND OF A DRY MARTINI-REMEMBERING PAUL DESMOND" on Origin Records out of Seattle. Jensen is a musician from this neck of the woods. He's a native of Idaho...graduated with a degree in music from Boise State University and a master's in music from Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. Currently, he's the director of jazz studies and woodwinds at the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls. If you like Desmond--his work in the Brubeck group and outside of it--you're going to enjoy this CD immensely. Just a great collection of songs...including a fine version of "Take Five" (penned by Desmond) as well as "Tangerine," "Line for Lyons," "Out of Nowhere," and another Desmond composition, "Wendy." Another fine release from Origin Records...which has been sending us great music from great musicians. Check this one out!
