Vocalist and composer Chenxi Pan creates a fresh path of material, melding her Chinese heritage with 21st Century jazz sensibilities on this collection of original musical water colors. She's joined by Nathan Nakadegawa-Lee/ts-cl, Shaonan Su/p, George Grydkovets/g, Nicolas Bond/b, Anders J ulsgaard/dr, Pete Cook/vi and Julie Kim/cel in mix and match fashion.
The string team is used gorgeously, creating elliptical tones for Pan's soft and deliberate expressions o "If Only For A Moment" and getting folksy with Grydkovets during "Parachute" and the gentle "Endless Summer". She forms lusciously attractive harmonies with Nakadegawa-Lee's tenor sax on the sing songy "At Dusk" and impressionistic "Hymn For The Spring", while his clarinet teams up to help her form a lullaby on "Little Bells". The two create a shadowy mist on "Rain of May" and get rich around Julsgaard's cymbals on New Year's Wish". A fresh morning breeze of ideas.
