Always swinging and ebullient, trumpeter Anthony Stanco's recordings reflect his commitment to the legacy of the Detroit jazz scene he grew up in, while celebrating the explosive musical voices he has surrounded himself with, including guitarist Randy Napoleon, pianist Xavier Davis, bassist John Webber, and drummer Joe Farnsworth. In this group's third album, Stanco looks toward his own history as a fifth-generation Italian American raised on Detroit's east side. He blended Italian classics, jazz standards, and original compositions into what he calls an "Italian tinge," and recorded it live at Ann Arbor's Blue Llama Jazz Club to pull an enthusiastic audience into the mix. The album swings hard while bringing together family heritage, musical lineage, and the fiery spontaneity of this world-class band.
