E Pluribus Unum - Live in Seattle

This live recording from Seattle in 2009 shows Galper at his best. With a lot of energy and a certain theatricality (in the positive sense of the word, Galper is not an exhibitionist), his four original compositions set high demands on the group, but they follow and support the pianist perfectly. Even more: they add value. Their solos fit seamlessly into the energetic, passionate style Galper owns. On the album you will find also three standards (by Berlin, Ellington and Parker) and here we adopt the same: Galper presents his fantastic interpretation of these numbers. "What a trio!" We have repeatedly listened through, and multiple spins only increase the fun. The style of the pianist varies between complex searching on one hand and leaning with the free (Constellation) on the other. And it is always very interesting to listen to. Galper's interpretations are sometimes far removed from the original, but he still has that intuitive force keeping the listener involved. Each groove or progression is apparently free from direction, however complex they may be. As a piano trio, this is undoubtedly a very strong garrison, the performances of the musicians are a drop of magnificent. Galper is evidently in his element as he can let go with complex sparks and lightning musical snippets that are perfectly put together. Johnson and Bishop also get their solo moments and those are for you to relish. A very successful CD with the authentic, personally spiced dishes of three top musicians. Brilliant!

Deze live-opname uit Seatlle in 2009 toont Galper op zijn best. Met veel energie en een zekere theatraliteit (in de positieve zin van het woord, Galper is geen exhibitionist) worden vier ei- gen composities opgevoerd. Die stellen bepaalt hoge eisen aan de groep, maar de oudge- dienden kennen de pianist en volgen en ondersteunen hem
perfect. Meer zelfs: ze bieden een meerwaarde. Hun solo?s passen naadloos in de energieke, gedreven stijl die Galper eigen is. Op de plaat vind je ook nog drie bewerkingen (Berlin, Ellington en Parker) en ook hier stellen we hetzelfde vast: Galper geeft samen met de zijnen een fantastische interpretatie van deze nummers. ?Wat een trio!? hebben we meermaals gedacht en meerdere luisterbeurten konden de pret alleen maar doen toenemen. De stijl van de pia- nist varieert tussen complex zoekend enerzijds en aanleunend bij de free (Constellation) anderzijds. En dat blijft altijd heel boeiend om te beluisteren. Galper wijkt soms wel ver af van het origineel maar hij heeft toch die intu�tieve kracht om de luisteraar bij de les te houden. Elke groove of progressie wordt schijnbaar moei- teloos genomen, hoe complex ze ook moge zijn. Als pianotrio is dit ongetwijfeld een z��r sterke bezetting; de prestaties die de muzikanten neerzetten zijn ��n voor ��n schitterend. Galper blijkt wel in zijn beste doen als hij zich complexloos mag laten gaan in vonken en bliksems muzikale flarden die hij perfect aan elkaar zet. Johnson en Bishop krijgen ook hun solomomenten en ook die zijn om van te snoepen. Een h��l erg geslaagde cd met authentiek gebrachte, persoonlijk gekruide gerechten van drie topmuzikanten. Schitterend!
