Time Frames

This 2021 CD features the music of Michael Waldrop on marimba, vibraphone, and drum set. Additionally, percussionists Gordon Stout, Brad Dutz, Jose Rossy, and Marko Djordjevic are featured on several tracks. In addition to Waldrop as a composer, other composers include Jack Cooper, Nathan Daughtrey, Jonathan Middleton, Stout, and Dutz. This CD reflects the outstanding musicianship of Waldrop on a variety of instruments. The compositions are uniquely diverse in their compositional styles, from minimalism to popular music to fusion-jazz. Track 6, "Almost Beyond" stands out with the performances of Waldrop on marimba and his wife, Ivana Cojbasic, on piano. This performance is one of the best examples of this CD's character of joyful, high-energy passion combined with lyrical intensity. Another memorable track is "Incoming" by Stout, featuring Stout on marimba and Waldrop on drum set. These two percussionists reflect the superb quality and diversity of performance excellence that this CD contains.
