This next September 17, 2021 will see the light of the last release of the record company Origin Records under the title of Our Time: Reimagining Dave Brubeck, a recording of Mark Zaleski Band. The Mark Zaleski Band is a powerful sextet led by the saxophonist and arranger that gives the band its name.

On Our Time, Mark serves as frontman for the Boston-based band and presents several fresh insights into the genius' classic compositions: Dave Brubeck. In this way the iconic pianist and longtime reference of North American jazz is celebrated in a round way and also serves to take into account a group of brilliant compositions with fresh and evocative arrangements. Mark Zaleski plays alto and supran sax alongside tenor sax Jon Bean, pianist Glenn Zaleski, guitarist Mark Cocheo, bassist Danny Weller and drummer Oscar Suchanek.

In addition to all this, Our Time also has another guest vocalist who is Michael Mayo in the song They Say I Look like God, another of Dave Brubeck's great songs.

When we refer to saxophonist Mark Zaleski we are echoing a very prestigious musician, graduated from the Dave Brubeck Institute in California, USA. A particularly important memory for Glenn was when Zalesky had a meeting with the North American Piano Master in 2003. In this regard, and today, Mark refers to that day of music camp as "regardless of Dave's fame and stature, we were greeted with open arms and big smiles. They couldn't have been nicer, which calmed our nerves to a great extent. "

Another highlight of those moments at the prestigious Brubeck Institute occurred at the Library of Congress, when Zaleski and his bandmates were preparing their first show with Dave and Christian McBride himself. "Dave heard us play his In Your Own Sweet Way and we played it exactly how he played on his recording. We thought we were doing an excellent job studying the teacher doing things his way, but playing this tune like Dave did really upset him. He insisted that if we were to play his music, it was imperative that we find our own voice. Now 16 years after finishing at the Brubeck Institute I think I am really ready to take on the challenge, "Mark says with a smile.
