Young drummer who immediately scored successes from his teenage years, but whose debut
with his group was shelved for inexplicable reasons. That, in a nutshell, is the story behind this
unreleased recording. However, a number of big names contributed to this. Among them Randy
Brecker, Rosemary Clooney and the popular rock singer Genya Ravan (Goldie and The
Gingerbreads) at the time.
Ten songs that are all jukebox material. We hear a spicy combination of bebop and sixties
soundtracks a few times. A little further it sounds like Ramsey Lewis is having a party with Herb
Alpert and Burt Bacharach is going on a swing soul tour. Even more old school swing comes
from icon Rosemary Clooney. Including a surprising version of Joe Zawinul's "Sticks".
Released with a twelve-page booklet packed with background information and archive photos.
Absolutely recommended for fans of the genre and for those who own the soundtracks of "Get
Shorty" and the "Austin Powers" films.
