A veteran jazz singer with a career of over 40 years, Libby York's first new release in about 10 years. She has been singing since she was a child, but her professional debut was late at the age of 35 because she was married and also ran a restaurant. "Sunday In New York" (2003), "Here with You" (2008), and "Memoir" (2014). She said that there was a period when she could not work due to the corona sickness, and she was able to take a long break. She met with Randy Napoleon, a guitarist who accompanies Freddie Cole, in Chicago, and the story progressed rapidly, and in the fall of 2021, bassist Rodney Whitaker and drummer Keith Hall, who participated in four songs, entered. Recorded in groups. She has a low, calm and warm voice, with easy-to-understand diction, and sings from her own experience. There is something From Johnny Mercer and Harold Arlen's "Hit the Road to Dreamland," which took the title, Betty Comden, who once sang with the piano accompaniment of composer Leonard Bernstein, and "It's Love," written by Adolph Green. 12 songs, although they are masterpieces, they collect songs that are not often sung by professionals and listen to songs that are deeply tasteful and match them with their own life experiences. "Throw It Away" by Abbey Lincoln, whom she personally studied with, and "Cloudy Morning," which makes you think of the New York skyscrapers, are wonderful. It's one of the best new albums I've heard recently.
