The second half of a very long recording session in Brooklyn from November of 2022 which combined The Griots Speak (Daniel Carter, Charlie Apicella, William Parker & Juma Sultan) and Iron City (Brad Whiteley & Austin Walker). Except for Daniel Carter and the Iron City guys who play traditional jazz instruments, the rest of the Griots play more traditional instruments like Tibetan singing bowls, ngoni and non-Western percussion, which adds to the charm. The sound is cosmic, earthbound, and ancestral. Though new, it feels familiar, a continuation of the collective creations of New York City's 1960s loft scene, or the electric bands of the 1970s. It's 40 minutes in 8 movements (each under 9 minutes). Very chill.
