Where the Light Falls

The double CD release "Where the Light Falls" by the David Friesen Trio Circle 3, may be lost in the general accumulation of various jazz publications. And it would be regrettable, because in the space of jazz classics there was little in recent years such recordings as if someone lacks plates permeated with what jazz emanated from decades "Where the Light Falls" can be indispensable. Musicians have outstanding personality of the imagination. Palpable depth, wiping out about nonchalance freedom with which they create a sound that makes this seemingly obvious story falls deep into the heart. They just play sound. But it's a fun thought-out, sophisticated and full of finesse. It makes no sense to write here with excellent technology leader, it is enough to mention the musicians with whom Friesen had the opportunity to play, and they were not fleeting meeting. It makes no sense to write also about the intuitive, based on years of experience of music common agreement. There is no sense in the end to write about impresyjnych, clear, dealing compositions leader. The double album provides satisfaction in many areas. A real find here pianist Greg Goebel, who is on the piano as if he always had something up his sleeve. Delicate complement the emotions uttered as if behind the scenes in parentheses makes the trio hypnotize even the ineffable, subcutaneous mystery.

"Where the Light Falls" is proof that artistic path that walks Friesen, which constantly touching the upper limit of their abilities gave a fantastic yield. Jurrorzy Downbeat Magazine's annual survey, rewarding day before yesterday Friesen title of "Best Bass Player Of The Year" did not commit an error.

Sprawcą tej entuzjastycznej opinii jest David Friesen, amerykański kontrabasista, który ma na koncie współpracę z takimi wykonawcami jak Sam Rivers, Chick Corea, Michael Brecker, Stan Getz, Joe Henderson, Elvin Jones, Woody Shaw, Dexter Gordon, Kenny Garrett oraz Dizzy Gillespie. W Polsce zapraszany bywał przez Leszka Możdżera, Piotra Wojtasika czy Krzysztofa Popka.

Dwupłytowe wydawnictwo "Where the Light Falls" David Friesen Circle 3 Trio może zaginąć w ogólnym nagromadzeniu przeróżnych jazzowych wydawnictw. A szkoda by było, ponieważ w przestrzeni jazzowej klasyki mało było w ostatnich latach takich nagrań jak to, jeśli ktoś odczuwa brak płyt przesyconych tym, czym jazz emanował od dziesiątków lat "Where the Light Falls" może być nieodzowna. Muzycy dysponują nieprzeciętną osobowością o bujnej wyobraźni. Wyczuwalna dogłębna, ocierająca się o nonszalancję swoboda z jaką kreują dźwięk sprawia, że ta z pozoru oczywista opowieść zapada głęboko w serce. Oni po prostu bawią się dźwiękiem. Ale jest to zabawa przemyślana, wysmakowana i pełna finezji. Nie ma sensu pisać tutaj o doskonałej technice lidera, wystarczy wspomnieć muzyków, z którymi Friesen miał okazję grać, a nie były to przelotne spotkania. Nie ma sensu pisac także o intuicyjnym, opartym na wieloletnim wspólnym doświadczaniu muzyki porozumieniu. Nie ma sensu w końcu pisać o impresyjnych, klarownych, zajmujących kompozycjach lidera. Podwójny album dostarcza satysfakcji w wielu płaszczyznach. Prawdziwym odkryciem jest tutaj pianista Greg Goebel, który brzmi na fortepianie tak, jakby zawsze miał coś w zanadrzu. Delikatne uzupełnienie emocji wypowiedzianej jakby za kulisami, w nawiasie powoduje, że trio hipnotyzuje wręcz niewypowiedzianą, podskórną tajemnicą.

"Where the Light Falls" jest dowodem na to, że artystyczna droga, którą kroczy Friesen, na której bez przerwy dotyka się górnego pułapu własnych możliwości dała fantastyczny plon. Jurrorzy corocznej ankiety Downbeat Magazine, nagradzając onegdaj Friesena tytułem "Best Bass Player of The Year" nie popełnili błędu.
