Following the magnificent "Ontology" (2019) is linked to it through the piece that was titled and that here is reinvented in two versions: in quartet and duet with pianist Jean-Michel Pilc, co-producer of the album. Porén, if not a previous work or saxophonist composed from traditional melodies and oozed more from studio work, "Contradictio" aims more at live performance of a quartet that is completed with a Portuguese rhythmic base: Carlos Barretto on contrabaixo and Marcos Cavaleiro on drums .

In fact, together in just two days of November 2021 they recorded a repertoire that combines standards ("You And The Night And The Music" by Arthur Schwartz, "But not for me" by George Gershwin, "Out of Nowhere" by Johnny Green , a traditional song "Meniña"), which calls for Monk or "Someday My Prince Will Come" by Frank Churchill and which originates from Miguélez (the album's homonym and the ballad "Soul and Body" are beautiful) and a composition by Pilc dedicated to Galicia, a luxury. In xeral, or sax by Miguélez he acts as a guide for the purpose but the four musicians work and shine together, giving us a feixe of exquisite solos and accompaniments.

"Contradictio" is a very good show of the quality that we are used to by Galician jazz musicians, a classic or timeless work, with moito bebop, a contemporary touch and a main melody. He repeats the edition with the American Origin Records and the mix and mastering by Savik Sound. Don't let yourself get sick.
