A fine collection of original compositions that are challenging, but captivating with catchy melodies and different structures and grooves. All the tunes give nods to great modern trumpeters who influenced Hall's trumpet style. Hall's trumpet chops are strong, with a well-developed modern harmonic sense and really well-structured solos. Cohen's solos are really exciting with a lot of surprises at every turn. Glynn has fine bass solos, too, and drives it all along locking in with Bishop's hard-hitting drums often catch your ear throughout the program. A recording not to be missed by fans of jazz trumpet.
