Primal Existence

Piet Verbist as a bassist and leader has already presented an abundance of different work. Alto saxophonist Lieven Cambré is also not a newcomer, but drummer Jesse Dockx is a fresh voice on the scene. Their CD "Primal Existence" is a set of generally quiet jazz. Cambré looks for a thoughtful way through the possibilities these themes offer him. Verbist puts calm security as the basis for the game while Dockx makes the music flow with his nuanced percussion. In addition to the natural presence of the saxophone as the solo instrument par excellence and the bass as binding element, Dockx gets ample opportunity to solo. In the ballad "Ballast" he holds his own well, without making a fuss. Hats off. Music for gourmets.

Piet Verbist heeft als bassist en groepsleider al veel verschillend werk opgeknapt. Altsaxofonist Lieven Cambré is ook geen nieuwkomer te noemen. Van drummer Jesse Dockx mag je dat wel zeggen. Hun
cd 'Primal Existence' bevat rustige jazz. Cambré zoekt bedachtzaam zijn weg door de mogelijkheden die de thema's hem bieden. Verbist legt met kalme zekerheid de basis voor het spel en Dockx zorgt dat
de muziek met zijn genuanceerd slagwerk vloeit. Naast de natuurlijke aanwezigheid van de saxofoon als het solo-instrument bij uitstek en de bas als bindend element, krijgt Dockx ruimschoots de elegenheid tot soleren.
