An accomplished composer, explosively swinging drummer and self-assured improviser.
Byron Vannoy has become one of the first call drummers in Seattle's Jazz and creative music scenes. His use of space and ability to integrate the freedom of improvisation with the nuances of various styles of music allows for a unique sound that has kept him in high demand. Byron has performed and recorded with many internationally known musicians such as Julian Priester, Herbie Hancock, Randy Brecker, Jovino Santos-Neto, Tom Scott, Wayne Horvitz, Ron Carter, Ernestine Anderson, and Hadley Caliman. In addition, he has recorded for nationally broadcast television programs as well as radio spots for the BBC.
He holds an Associate Certificate in Professional Music from Berklee College of Music, a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Performance from Cornish College of the Arts and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Jazz and African American Music Performance from California Institute of the Arts.
