Born in Kalmar, Sweden and raised in an artistic home in Räpplinge on the island Öland, Lola began playing drums at the age of 10, soon performing with various jazz bands and ensembles in the Kalmar/Öland area. She developed her passion for singing at the music high school in Oskarshamn/Sweden while the drums kept beating as the perfect instrument for creating Lola's very strong rhythmical voice. She was awarded the Didrik Af Wåhlberg's Jazz Scholarship and won a talent act where she sang a soul cover and accompanied herself on congas. This then took her to perform at the famous jazz club "Nalen" in Stockholm.
Ms. Regenthal performed in different constellations with musicians such as guitar player Robert Easley from Canada, on several occasions at crown princess Victoria's birthday at Solliden, and other places in the local area. She has toured extensively in Sweden with her own trio which featured Mattias Simonsson on piano and Marie Fransson on Cello. In 2009, while an exchange student at the jazz department in Zurich, where she met the Swiss/American bassist Jonas Tauber as well as double tenor steel pan player Rudy Smith from Trinidad, and together with Robert Easley, Lola Regenthal Quartet was created. In 2010 they played together on a mini-tour in Sweden involving a radio performance as well as being the opening act for famous singer Tommy Körberg, which was very well received by the audience!
The request for a cd then became obvious and in July 2011 Lola recorded her first album "With You" featuring Jonas Tauber on bass and cello, Francis Coletta on guitars and Rudy Smith as guest double tenor steel pan soloist. The cd takes a journey through Lola Regenthal's own compositions as well as a couple of her favorite standards from the American and Brazilian songbook.
Lola received her Masters from the Music University in Gothenburg, Sweden on jazz vocals.
