Born in Albany, Oregon in 1953 and raised in Salem by jazz-loving parents, Warren Rand studied saxophone after high school with Sonny king, Rich Halley and Jim Pepper. Later teachers include Marc Copeland, Lee Konitz, Bob Newman and Gary Peacock.
He has performed extensively with regional and national musicians in jazz and R&B: Denney Goodhew, Sonny King, James Knapp, Jay Thomas, Ron Steen, Gordon Lee, Mel Brown Sextet, Nancy King and Glen Moore, Dave Storrs, Robert Cray, Jimmy Witherspoon, Albert King, Lluyd Jones and D. K. Stewart.
Warren currently performs with Nancy King, Gordon Lee Quartet/Quintet, Alan Jones Sextet, the Carlton Jackson-Dave Mills Big Band, the Mel Brown Sextet and Saxophobia with John Gross.
